All joking aside, I do actually have a really cute story about Thoma.

I admittedly didn't have much interest in him when he first came out, but then I played through the Windwheel Aster branch of his hangout quest and I fell in love. Unfortunately, I am very, very careful when it comes to rolling in Genshin, and I am also extremely picky about who I roll for, as I will never roll for any character I'd end up regretting. Thoma debuted in 2.2 (late 2021) with Hu Tao and Childe--neither of which I wanted, so I waited. Then he came back around in 2.5 (February 2022) with Yae's debut, and I didn't want her, either.

I wanted a copy of him so badly! Just one!

It got to the point where, every time I had a free Standard pull, I would empty my party of everyone except Ayato, go inside the Kamisato Estate, and click on Thoma's lucky omamori (the Thomamori, if you will) from that very Hangout Event in my inventory before wishing. I told myself that in the absurdly tiny chance he came home off of Standard, I'd get him Staff of Homa.

The base, non-pity rate of getting a 4★ from Standard is 5.1%. At the time, there were 21 x 4★ characters and 18 x 4★ weapons, meaning the chances of pulling a specific 4★ character from Standard is about a 0.13% chance off-pity (a 0.33% chance on 4★ pity.)

On May 13th, just over 6 months after he was released, I struck gold.

And that is the story of how my account has 6 8 Staff of Homas and no Hu Tao.
